24 Hour Cycle Ride at Palms raises funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance
Staff and members at Palms Health & Fitness Club at Potters have completed a 24 hour bike ride to raise funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), as part of their Only the Brave challenge fundraising efforts, including cycling through the night!
Dozens of people took it in turns to hop on and off the bike for 24 hours from 2pm on Thursday 28th March 2019 with £158.17 raised from the challenge, and 318.84 miles cycled in total.
We caught up with Ian Hawes, Palms manager, who said: “A massive thank you to everyone who took part in this challenge and who donated and cheered us on in our cycle ride. We opened this challenge up to anyone who wanted to have a go and we had a whole range of people having a go. The money raised is going to our fundraising efforts for the Only the Brave challenge in April, with money going to the EAAA.”
The Palms team are competing in a six mile mud run for the Only the Brave challenge on Sunday 7th April 2019 in Thetford, with six staff from Palms and 10 members competing in the obstacle challenge.
Ages of those competing range from 17 to 68 and the team have been training with Bootcamp style sessions since early March at Palms.
Palms is also hosting a raffle and coffee morning on 5th April to raise more funds before the event.
The EAAA is a charity providing a helicopter emergency medical service for the people of East Anglia. EAAA exists to save lives by delivering highly skilled doctors and critical care paramedics by air or car to seriously ill or injured people in the region. It is a life-saving charity that is only kept airborne thanks to its supporters.
A massive well done to everyone who took part and good luck for your challenge on Sunday 7th April!
