A thought to families in our Potters community
We'd like to take a moment to send our love and best wishes to the Carter Family and the Wright Family, both of whom came to Potters Resort in recent months to enjoy a family holiday, in the knowledge that holidays in the future would not be the same again.
Ebonie-Mai Carter and Aaron Wright both sadly passed away soon after their weekends with us; two amazing young people who truly had a sparkle and glow to them, undeterred by their illnesses. Having spoken to Aaron’s mum shortly after their break, she mentioned that Aaron himself had found a love for the game of bowls and Ebonie-Mai’s parents who, in large part through the generous contributions of many here at Potters, whisked her off to many of her bucket-list destinations, only to say she liked it best at Potters (with Boo Bear being her favourite).
We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone for their part in creating happy memories for these families, specifically Danny from our Bars Team and Mel from our Ents Team.
Whilst our support is more often than not focused on our wider Potters community, in a somewhat timely manner following the above, the Foundation made a donation to a family who have been regular visitors to Potters for almost 70 years and whose youngest member, Verity, was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare heart tumour. So rare in fact, the only hospital with the relevant experience of this condition is the Boston Children’s Hospital, USA. We were made aware of Verity’s condition via her grandfather who first visited Potters as an 18 month old in 1951 with his parents, who themselves have a bench placed in their memory on Resort. Having checked in on their campaign earlier this week, I was delighted to see that the family have since reached their somewhat daunting target and Verity is booked in at the Boston Children’s Hospital at the beginning of September, where there is every chance her outcome will be total success (given the hospital’s 100{d7add0c0757ab8f5f3519b9c44dfa5d68336156785d7f1efcb577864635363f9} success rate in this field) and she will go on to lead a long and healthy life.
