Charity matinee raises £8,750 for good causes
Potters Resort’s 2017 Christmas Spectacular was performed to a local audience on Sunday 3rd December 2017, in an effort to raise valuable funds for worthy causes.
Having sold 700 tickets in a matter of days, doors to the Atlas Theatre were opened to our community in what has become a traditional afternoon matinee performance, and our Potters Theatre Company did not disappoint the many hundreds of visitors.
The Atlas Theatre was jam-packed as John Potter, Founder and Patron of the Potters Friends Foundation and Nathan Moore, its CEO, opened with a brief introduction to the Foundation and its aims and objectives. Also announced was the staggering £8,600 raised, a figure which has since increased to approximately £8,750 following a number of generous donations on the day.
Special guests Maxine Taylor (Louise Hamilton Centre), Paddy Lee (Great Yarmouth & Gorleston Lifeboat), Sophie Berry (Nelson’s Journey) and Mrs Prentice (Lowestoft Fundraising Group for Guide Dogs) were invited up on stage to each receive a cheque to the value of £2,000.00 for their charities from Foundation Patron, Mrs Judy Potter. All do fantastic work to help the many in our wider community that are affected by life-changing circumstances, so a huge well done to them all.
It was then all about entertainment, with the Potters Theatre Company performing a number of popular Christmas classics, supported by our Atlas Theatre Band and tireless Tech Crew who transformed the stage in to a stunning winter wonderland. The show was sprinkled with great comedy including the Naughty Elves and even some audience participation! By 5pm, the audience were on their feet applauding, now well and truly in the festive spirit.
“The Potters Friends Foundation was founded in memory of my late father, Brian Potter MBE and he would have been very proud of the performance the team put on. Having given up their Sunday afternoon for the purpose of raising valuable funds for good causes, they brought the house down and deserved every moment of their standing ovation from the 700 plus audience.”

Whilst many of our team contributed in some way to making the event run smoothly, we simply cannot put on this show without the support of our amazing show team; the entire Potters Theatre Company, The Comedy Team, The Atlas Theatre Band, our Tech Crew and everyone behind the scenes of our Christmas Spectacular, including Nicky Hathway, the creator of this magical show.
“The fact that tickets sold out in a matter of days, is testament to both the wonderful and talented show team we have at Potters Resort and the generosity of the many hundreds in the community that came and enjoyed the show.”
