Foundation Joins Hands with Rotary Club to Support Community’s Schools
We recently heard from Robert Lovick, District Governor for Rotary in East Anglia, regarding an annual dictionary initiative that helps local schools.
Every year, our local Rotary branch seek corporate support to match fund the purchase of hundreds of dictionaries that can then be distributed to schools in the area.
Produced by Usborne, the dictionaries are of amazing quality and following a contribution to the Great Yarmouth & Haven Rotary Club from the Potters Friends Foundation, we visited Year 3 Students at Hopton Primary School to help distribute just a few of the many purchased.
Nathan, CEO of Potters Friends Foundation said: “It was great to visit and hand pupils their own personal copy of the dictionary. The books themselves are brilliant; certainly an improvement on the ones we had at school with the really thin paper and no pictures! It was clear the pupils were going to treasure their own personal copy. It is something for them to keep, look after and have as a tool for their learning for the next few years at least.
“Brian Potter MBE was a key Rotarian in our community and we are pleased that through the Potters Friends Foundation, we can continue that relationship, Brian’s legacy and, in this instance, make just a small difference to our local schools and their pupils. And we thank Robert Lovick and those at Great Yarmouth & Haven Rotary Club for giving us that opportunity.”
