Iris talks raffles and supporting the Friends Foundation
Iris Pratt, from Essex, has been coming to Potters Resort for 26 years and has kindly been raising money for Potters Friends Foundation since it began through raffles her and her son, Geoff, organise and run at Potters.
Iris buys all the items for the raffle herself and Geoff wraps them all beautifully, and they then sell tickets for it. They kindly do a raffle twice a year for us and they have raised over £7,500 for Potters Friends Foundation, which is an incredible figure.
We caught up with Iris for a chat on her recent Potters break…
Iris, thank you so much for raising so much money for the Foundation. Why do you want to support the Foundation?
Brian Potter MBE was such a lovely man and a real gentleman. I want to help the Foundation support local charities and projects in Brian’s name, and nothing is too much for Potters. John Potter texts me too and he is a lovely man.
What do you buy for the raffle?
There is a range of things, from beauty, bags, lights, knitted toys and food hampers. I do the raffle at Potters twice a year and also get some extra things for the James Paget Hospital at Christmas. If I see anything throughout the year in the shops, I pick it up. My son, Geoff, helps and our friends Bob and Pauline.
Why do you love Potters?
I am coming seven times this year and I love everything about it and there is so much on offer for everyone. Everything is included and there is lots to keep me busy from 10am until lunch and then in the afternoon. There is dancing, golf, swimming, bowls and so much, and I like to just sit and watch the world go by. The team are wonderful and I like to have my one to ones with Chantelle from groups, and I love Mark Brewer too and so many others. The Potters Theatre Company shows are amazing and you won’t get a West End show as good as some of their shows. It is my pleasure to help Potters Friends Foundation in any way I can.
A massive thank you to Iris for supporting Potters Friends Foundation over the years. We really appreciate all the money you have helped us raise, which is helping us to support more worthy causes and projects in the community. See you again soon Iris!
