Judy’s gold jacket raises £1,966.57 for the Lifeboats
Spectators attending the Just 2020 World Indoor Bowls Championships at Potters Resort raised £1,966.57 for the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston Lifeboat Station, as part of a fun annual competition to guess the colour of the jacket worn by Judy Potter at the Open Singles Final.
Judy is known for her beautiful collection of jackets and every day during the 17 days of live bowls action, Judy wears a different jacket.
The jacket worn by Judy at the World Bowls Open Singles Final on Sunday 26th January 2020 was gold, as guessed correctly by Kim Reed from Northamptonshire, who is the lucky winner of an inclusive Weekend Break for two at Potters.
We caught up with Judy, who said: “The Just 2020 World Indoor Bowls Championships has been one of the best yet, with the whole world talking about Potters thanks to an incredible shot from Nick Brett going viral, and a nail-biting Open Singles Final between Nick and Robert Paxton.
“I am delighted that all money raised from the fun Judy’s Jacket competition this year, which also includes money raised from seat cushion hire and programmes, is going to the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston Lifeboat Station, of which I am honoured to be Vice President of.
“Over the years, this competition has raised many thousands and contributes to the year round work of The Potters Friends Foundation, which was set-up in memory of my late husband Brian Potter MBE to support worthy causes and acts of kindness in our community, and as a family we are so proud and humbled by the support we have had in raising lots of money and helping good causes in Brian’s name.
“A massive thank you to everyone who came along to watch the Championships and gave so generously to support the competition, and a big thank you to our World Bowls Stewards, who are all volunteers and look after everyone in the International Arena and also sell the tickets for the competition.”
The Just 2021 World Indoor Bowls Championships return to Potters Resort between Friday 8th and Sunday 24th January 2021.
