Nade raises funds ahead of charity Saint Lucia football project
Nade Ward, from Potters activities team, is about to head to Saint Lucia to volunteer with Sporting Opportunities on a two week football coaching project.
Before his trip, Nade has been raising money for United Through Sport, the charity that he is working with while he is away, to help disadvantaged communities reach their full potential in sport, education and health.
Nade has already raised over £1,000, including a £100 donation from Potters Friends Foundation.
Nade says: “I want to help continue the positive changes being made and know that even after my project is complete that me and everyone who has donated are still playing a massive part in giving disadvantaged and vulnerable youth out there the chance to play and enjoy the sports they love, learn key life skills, make lots of new friends and have a very bright future ahead of them!”
United Through Sport uses sports coaching for its health benefits, improved emotional wellbeing and increased life skills (teamwork, leadership, decision making, communication), using sport to discuss critical issues by delivering curriculums on topics such as HIV/AIDS awareness in a fun and interactive manner on the sports field. Plus, using sport for improved education by providing pathways to success for talented and dedicated individuals through scholarships to top local schools and tertiary education.
Good luck Nade and let us know how you get on.
