Potters & Inspired Youth Host MyHi 2016
On Thursday 3rd March, Potters Resort hosted ‘MyHi 2016’ in Zest – a hospitality event for young people in our community, organised by Inspired Youth. Inspired Youth is a local social enterprise which gives young people from all backgrounds a platform to speak to employers in the area with a view to understanding what they do, what challenges they face and current recruitment possibilities.
Working in a number of sectors including hospitality, finance, care and technology, Inspired Youth have a fantastic format for all of their events, with interactive workshops, demonstrations and networking sessions with a number of other employers in attendance. They also run a number of additional projects in schools and colleges which we believe really give pupils an opportunity to try out new skills and make an impression on prospective local employers.
Inspired Youth work very closely with The Anchorage Trust in the Great Yarmouth area, offering opportunities for young people who are homeless, insecurely housed or at risk of homelessness. This is a productive relationship, with the Trust assisting from a housing perspective and Inspired Youth aiming to make that sustainable with future employment opportunities. Following a successful morning with The Anchorage Trust and students from Great Yarmouth College, visitors and employers were given a tour of Potters and its facilities by the Potters Friends Foundation CEO, Nathan Moore and Founder & Potters Resort MD, John Potter.
We look forward to working closely with Inspired Youth on existing and new projects in the future.
