Potters Resort supports IGNITE! at local schools
We have been supporting Inspired Youth now for the best part of 18 months, proudly working with them on various projects within and for schools in our local community.
The work they do also opens doors of opportunity for another charity specifically in the Great Yarmouth area working with young people, the Anchorage Trust and we are pleased to be able to support the efforts of both where we can.
Most recently, we were invited by Inspired Youth to attend both Great Yarmouth High School and Sir John Leman High School in Beccles as mentors for two ‘IGNITE!’ Enterprise Days, where pupils work together in small teams to create a business idea based on a given theme before pitching their idea in a dragons den style format to us mentors on the day. Pupils at Great Yarmouth High were tasked with proposing and pitching a new tourist attraction for Norfolk, and those at Sir John Leman had to come up with a new concept for a mobile phone device.
All the pupils did briliantly, using their initiative and creativity as well as focusing on the local environment. Awards were given to the top teams and a stand out individual who caught the eye of the mentors.
The IGNITE! Project has seen thousands of students across our area benefit from Inspired Youth’s fun and proactive approach to careers events and we are delighted to continue our support of such events. Mentors at Great Yarmouth High School were Nathan Moore, Gary Bartley, Alfie Williams and Dean Whelan, and at Sir John Leman High School, Nathan Moore, Amy Norton, Hannah Gook and Sian Jefferies. All had a great day working with everyone involved.
