Potters supports Nelson’s Journey in eggcellent Easter appeal
Thanks to the Potters team for hopping to it for Nelson’s Journey and joining other businesses and supporters in donating chocolate eggs for its annual Easter Egg Hunt appeal, with the hunt being enjoyed by around 1,000 people on Sunday 14th April at Barningham Hall.
Each child completing the hunt receiving an egg, and approximately £3,800 was raised from the event, which will go back into supporting more children and young people locally, struggling after the death of an important person in their lives.
Activities on the day included a traditional Easter Egg Hunt in the woodland, a tree of memories, where guests could write an Easter message in memory of a special person who had died, a spring animal petting area, traditional fete games, themed arts and crafts and an Easter bonnet competition.
Louise Flynn, who organised the event said: “This event is very special to the children and young people we support at Nelson’s Journey. It is one of our ‘Positive Activities’ for families who have experienced a bereavement to come together and remember the special person in their lives that has died. Families also get the opportunity to enjoy lots of fun activities too, making new special memories and helping them to move forward positively with their lives. It was amazing to see over 1000 people coming along to this year’s event for a fun day out; the event has grown in size each year and is now a firm date in our events calendar. We are incredibly grateful to Thomas and Amelia Courtauld for allowing us to use their beautiful grounds at Barningham Hall, and East of England Co-op who have sponsored the event for the fourth year in a row.”
Also thank you to Sue Hannam from the Potters Resort team for volunteering at the event.
Nelson’s Journey is a Norfolk charity that supports children and young people up to their 18th birthday who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life.
