Supporting a community Christmas with Open Christmas Great Yarmouth
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but it can be challenging and difficult for people who are less fortunate or who are lonely at this time of year.
That’s why we wanted to support Open Christmas Great Yarmouth with their annual Christmas Day event.
It offers those who are struggling with money or those who would normally spend the day alone to have a Christmas day to remember. As well as providing them with a free Christmas meal, there is entertainment on offer and lots of festive cheer with everyone coming together in a real community setting.
Potters Friends Foundation donated £100 to the event to support their costs in running it, and also asked all the Potters team to raid their cupboards to donate tins and packets of food, chocolates and even sleeping bags to the event. The team didn’t disappoint, and we dropped off bags of goodies to the Open Christmas team.
We also donated a hamper containing treats for the volunteers to enjoy.
Over 400 people attended last year, and it believes that there will be over 500 this year. The event is open to everyone, even families.
This is an amazing example of supporting the community, and we wish you all a Merry Christmas.
