Team Potters Compete in the Charity Challenge!
The evening of Thursday 9th June saw the first ever Inspired Youth ‘Charity Challenge’ take place, at the Holiday Inn Norwich Airport.
The event itself mirrors Inspired Youth’s IGNITE! initiative, where businesses in the area can attend local schools and colleges, working with up to 200 students to create a new business idea. Over the course of the day, students work in teams to brainstorm ideas and prepare a structured business plan with finances, marketing and sales all taken in to consideration. The end of the day sees the teams pitch their ideas to the businesses in attendance, with prizes to be won via the event sponsors. This is a fantastic initiative and we are looking forward to attending Ormiston Venture at the end of June to get involved in our first event.
The Charity Challenge, however, saw the tables turned as local businesses created an entire business plan in 45 minutes, culminating in a 2 minute pitch to a young judging panel! Team Potters consisted of Nathan (Potters Friends Foundation), John (Restaurant Manager), Grace and Andrew (Sales & Marketing), Andrew (Housekeeping) and Hannah (HR), who created the idea of a spooky but family friendly railway journey, with tales of Norfolk’s most famous (or infamous!) people and places!
Whilst we didn’t take home the prize, a fun evening was enjoyed by all but most importantly the event itself raised lots of funds for two charities: Nelson’s Journey and Anchorage Trust, who we have supported previously.
